About this concept

Why it exists, what it is not, and how it was made.

What this is

A small working concept built by Clearview for WFEO’s evaluation of Expressions of Interest for its website redesign. It shows how we would approach the parts of the brief that are hardest to describe in a document: the member-organisation directory, the Members Portal, governance and committee pages, and sections for the Awards, the World Academy, World Engineering Day and the WFEO Institute that renew themselves edition by edition.

It follows the structure already on WFEO’s new staging site: About us (who we are, governance, members), What we do (expertise, committees and working groups, resources), Flagship Initiatives, and News & Events. The logo, colours and typefaces (Barlow and Barlow Semi Condensed) are taken from that site.

What it is not

  • Not WFEO’s website. The official site is wfeo.org.
  • Not the production platform. The redesign would be built in WFEO’s existing WordPress staging environment and infrastructure, as the EOI asks.
  • Not a new brand. It uses WFEO’s current logo and colours. The one change: we removed a background-colour artefact behind the wordmark in the header logo file. The mark itself is unchanged.
  • Not the final design. It was built before any conversation with WFEO, so expect it to change once discovery conversations happen. That is the point of having them.

How we made it

  • Nothing invented. Every fact comes from WFEO’s own published pages (wfeo.org, the staging site, the Strategic Plan 2026–2035, worldengineeringday.net), read on 13 October 2026. Sources are cited on each page.
  • Anything drawn rather than sourced is labelled Illustrative: the focal-point block, the portal roles, the next Awards edition, the Academy and Institute structures, the supporters’ recognition slot and the language switcher.
  • The directory is real data. 132 organisations taken from WFEO’s member pages. To keep it light we show only each organisation’s name, country, region, type and website, with no individual names, addresses or phone numbers.
  • No portraits. People are listed by name and role only.
  • Forms send nothing. The Members Portal sign-in has no account system behind it and cannot submit data.
  • Built on Nanopage, an AI-assisted site platform that our CTO, Jasmin Ihtijarevic, is involved in building. It is the fastest way for us to show something real. It is not what we propose for production.

Languages

The concept is in English only. The language switcher in the header is Illustrative: WFEO’s Strategic Plan 2026–2035 (Strategic Priority 11) calls for a public website with multilingual access, and which languages to offer, and how they are translated, is a question for discovery.

Accessibility

Built to WCAG 2.2 AA: skip link, one heading structure per page, visible focus, keyboard-operable menus and filters, a result count that screen readers announce, text sized in rem so it scales, and layouts that reflow at 320 px. We tested it with axe-core on every page and checked reflow at 320 and 375 px; manual screen-reader testing is still to do.

Taking it down

The concept is unlisted and marked noindex on every page. If WFEO would like it removed, tell us and we will take it down the same day.
