Committee on Water (CW)
A stronger engineering voice on the water scene.
Overview
The WFEO Water Committee brings together all engineering disciplines to have a stronger voice on the water scene, to become more relevant in global water decisions, and to remind society and politicians of the importance of engineering’s contribution to the goals and targets of SDG 6.

Vision and mission
Water security is essential to achieve SDG 6, and resilience to climate change requires engineering to provide knowledge and technology, leading water governance and its efficient use.
What the committee does
- Contributes to SDG 6 and its targets through participation in UN-Water task force groups.
- Takes part in the international forums where water policy is conceived.
- Prepares engineering positions and statements, and contributes to UN-Water documents such as the yearly World Water Development Report.
Chair
Ignacio González-Castelao
A Master Civil Engineer skilled in the water cycle and environmental issues, he has worked in Spanish private and public engineering organisations in the water sector and in road and railway infrastructure, and is Deputy to the CEO of Aguas de las Cuencas Mediterráneas.
